The Thoroughly Modern Girl’s Natural Fertility Plan
Try to resist the temptation to search the internet without making sure you
are looking at reputable sites. Forums can be a wealth of information and it’s great to get chatting with women going through the same as you, however remember that one woman’s experiences and fertility journey is very different to that of another. Check out the accuracy of any information you get from forums before believing it
as gospel. Search for forums or online groups that are run by qualified professionals. Have you tried mine?
There are some wonderful fertility books out there. My favourites are Zita West’s books. Often one or two books is all you need, anymore and you may find conflicting information that will just serve to confuse you further.
Natural fertility blogs are becoming more and more popular. Not just to read and follow but to write your own. If you enjoy writing, why not start one. You can keep it private so it’s just a way for you to record your fertility journey or use a psyndenom and get it out there! You’ll be amazed how quickly you gain regular followers.
Do you use Twitter? I love it and it is the most amazing way to stay up to date and connected with all things fertility. You never know what you may stumble across and how this tip bit of information could optimise your fertility. Take a look at my Twitter feed and you’ll see what I mean. Oh and I have just this week started using Instagram. There are so many hashtags for fertility on Instagram, so get checking in out and find me.
I have recently started using Pinterest and I LOVE it for the ability to keep everything I’m interested in, in one place. Right now I have a Pinterest page for ideas for my forever home (hopefully not so far away now!) but my best page is my fertility page. You can easily find it, why not take a look? With Pinterest you can organise your life, your thoughts and all the things you need to do, as well as staying connected and up to date.
If you are trying to conceive naturally you may well be charting your temperature. There are a number of apps out there to help you do this, but I’m not a great fan. My experience of these is that they are still not accurate enough to be useful and can often be misleading. Maybe it’s not very thoroughly modern to use an old fashioned chart and pen but do you know what, it works! If you are really techie, you can use a spread sheet instead and make fabulous graphs, but if not a chart by your bed will do the job just as well.
